Shepherd’s Care Foundation: Bargaining delayed by difficult employer

Bargaining update for Local 047 Chapters 011, 014, 018, 027, & 033, Shepherd’s Care Foundation

Sep 25, 2025

Text only block

Your negotiating team met the employer on September 22 to continue bargaining. Unfortunately, our employer immediately put up barriers to negotiations.

The employer insisted that we provide additional proposals on the spot. Our employer knows the proposals they demanded would come at a later date, and there was no reason to delay bargaining.

We are disappointed with the unexpected delay. The employer had over three months since our last meeting to make their request.

Requesting this information on the morning that we were to continue negotiations was incredibly disrespectful. They knew a response would take time to put together – something that we could have easily done in the time between now and our last meeting, had they asked.

We were committed to carrying forward with negotiations and to not letting the employer derail bargaining. We worked very quickly to prepare a response and shared the information the employer asked for.

We have proposed dates to continue negotiations in November. We are awaiting their response.

Please contact a member of your negotiating team if you have any questions or concerns.
