Duties of the Legislative Committee
AUPE’s Constitution sets out the duties of the Legislative Committee as follows:
The Legislative Committee shall:
- advise on questions relating to this Constitution;
- review from time to time the Constitution and the Policies of the Union and may recommend amendments thereto;
- recommend policies with respect to affiliations with other organizations;
- receive, process, and refer resolutions to the appropriate committee prior to Convention;
- review from time to time the Constitution of affiliate organizations and may recommend amendments;
- review all legislation affecting the operation of the Union or its members; and
- assist Components who wish to review the development and implementation of employer and Regulatory Board policies that affect the Union.

The AUPE Legislative Committee is committed to supporting members at this year’s Convention. We want to provide you with the information and tools you all need to be successful Delegates.
Convention is governed by set protocols and processes. It is important that we all understand them to ensure meaningful participation from all Delegates. Whether you are a first-time Delegate needing to learn the ins and outs, or a returning member in need of a refresher, we are here to help.
The Committee is hosting Pre-Convention Training Webinars throughout October. The webinars are open to all Delegates and alternates, as well as members who want to prepare for future Conventions.
The Zoom webinars will be hosted by Vice-President and Chair of the Legislative Committee, Bobby-Joe Borodey. The webinar will include a presentation and an opportunity to ask your important questions.
