Bow Valley College: No change on wages, progress on other items

There was no change on wage offers when your negotiating team met the employer on Sept. 23, but we signed off on all remaining non-monetary items.

This includes a Letter Of Understanding (LOU) establishing a new Job Classification Committee.

This is a positive step. It creates a formal process to address classification issues without having to wait until the next round of bargaining.  

While the employer will make final decisions, it gives members a stronger voice and more transparency when new positions are created or when classifications are changed.

The employer did not change its wage-increase offer of 10% over four years. You can read about the status of bargaining on wages in our last update here.

We are revising our monetary proposals to reflect the results of our survey of members and what we see in the deal accepted by members employed by the Government of Alberta. (GOA).

Our next meeting will be Dec. 1.
