Lethbridge Polytechnic: We meet the employer on Dec. 17
Bargaining update for Local 071 Chapter 001, Lethbridge Polytechnic
Nov 27, 2025
Your negotiating team has been meeting regularly, including at AUPE’s recent education bargaining sector conference in Calgary. We approached the employer to reopen negotiations and will meet with them on December 17.
Your negotiating team is willing to make some slight adjustments to our monetary proposals. This would align our proposals with the agreement reached by AUPE members who are directly employed by the Government of Alberta (GOA).
You can read about that agreement here.
Meanwhile, the employer has applied for an exemption from negotiating an Essential Services Agreement (ESA). We are waiting for the commissioner to review the application on Dec. 8, after which we would expect the exemption to be granted.
ESAs decide who must keep working during a strike. They are considered necessary to protect life, safety, and public health, as well as maintain the rule of law and public security.
Please contact a member of your negotiating team if you have questions.
