Coaldale members ratify Collective Agreement, ending over two-month lockout
Bargaining update for Local 118 Chapter 001, Town of Coaldale
Nov 12, 2025
Your negotiating team would like to inform the membership that on Nov. 10 Coaldale members voted to accept a new tentative agreement, bringing an end to the lockout that had lasted over two months.
The Town of Coaldale has also ratified the new collective agreement as of Nov. 10.
This new four-year agreement includes several key improvements:
• A 3% wage increase each year of the agreement.
• Upon ratification, some members will receive an immediate increase of up to an additional 5.6% due to the adjustment from an 8-step to a 4-step wage grid. Over the next four years, some members will see total increases averaging between 12% and 17.6%.
• Maintenance of the current benefits program and pension plan.
• Minor adjustments to safety footwear and increases to shift premiums and weekend premiums.
• Some rollbacks to overtime provisions, which now align with previous employment standards.
• Improvement in the condition of utilizing banked overtime, which now is valued at the premium time rate at which it was banked.
Unfortunately, no retro pay will be provided but as a show of good faith, members will return to work on Nov. 17, and wages being paid from Nov. 11.
Your Coaldale negotiating team would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the Locals and Chapters who supported our efforts on the line and provided financial support through this challenging process.
Please contact a member of your negotiating team if you have any questions.
