AUArts: We’re ready to bargain for wages and benefits
Bargaining update for Local 071 Chapter 006, AUArts
Jul 21, 2025
Your negotiating team met with AUArts on July 9 to continue bargaining. We made quick progress and signed off all the remaining articles not related to wages and benefits. We are prepared to begin negotiating for those increases when bargaining continues.
Our meetings have been respectful so far, and we are hopeful that they will stay that way. We are watching negotiations at other post-secondary institutions and at the Government of Alberta bargaining table to help us prepare for our own negotiations.
Your team is standing firm. We are ready to bargain for the raises and benefits we deserve, including:
- April 1, 2024: 13% + Cost-of-Living Adjustments
- April 1, 2025: 6.5%
- April 1, 2026: 6.5%
- No classification under a living wage, which is $22.98 in Alberta
- $500 increase to the flex spending account for a total of $1500
- Increase to the shift & weekend premium
- Increase to milestone of when your 7th week of vacation is earned
- Increases and clarity to certain pieces of the benefit coverage
The employer is sticking to their first offer of 2%, 2%, 1.75%, and 1.75% over four years. We know this offer comes nowhere near keeping up with the skyrocketing cost of living. We know we deserve more.
We are currently working on scheduling our next bargaining dates and will keep you updated. Please reach out to a member of your negotiating team with any questions or concerns.
