AHS General Support Services: The ESA has been signed and submitted

Bargaining resumes Sept. 16 and 18

Your negotiating team has been hard at work behind the scenes getting Alberta Health Services back to the bargaining table, and that work has paid off.

Following our Telephone Town Halls the employer told us they would come back to the bargaining table on Sept. 16 and 18, 2025. Thank you to everyone who listened, asked questions, and provided feedback.

There is power in your engagement with the bargaining process – this is evidence of that!

Our counter proposal to the employer clearly focused on what you, the members, told us. This included fair wages, better benefits, and job security.

We’ve also made progress on the Essential Services Agreement – this was a hot topic during the telephone town halls. Both AUPE and AHS have since signed off on the ESA, and it is now with the Commissioner, who will be reviewing the submission on July 24, 2025. Your negotiating team will update you once it has been approved.

The ESA is important to have in place in the case of a strike or lockout, and is required if formal mediation is necessary, but our number one goal is to get a deal GSS members deserve at the bargaining table.
