PWL Drayton Valley: We have a tentative agreement!

Bargaining update for Local 047 Chapter 064, Points West Living

Your negotiating team met with the employer and mediator on August 20 and reached a tentative collective agreement!

The new agreement aligns with other PWL agreements across the province. You can read the full draft here. Highlights include:

  • Contract term from January 11, 2023, to December 31, 2023. Once we’ve ratified this agreement, we will re-start negotiations until we have another contract.
  • 1.75% wage increases effective January 11, 2023, including retroactive pay that the employer must pay within 90 days of ratification. You can find a draft wage table in the draft agreement.
  • Improved health benefits including orthodontic, vision, dental, and prescription coverage.
    • Basic dental coverage increases from 70% to 80%.
    • Addition of 50% major dental coverage, with a maximum of $2500/year.
    • Prescription coverage increases from 70% to 80%.
    • Practitioner coverage (ex. massage, chiro) changes from $300 per practitioner to being spread out amongst eligible practitioners with an overall coverage of $1000/year maximum.

  • Health benefit premiums increase but are shared 50/50 with the employer. This ensures we get the improved coverage highlighted above.
    • Single: increase from $17.68 to $24.01 per pay period
    • Family: increase from $35.69 to $48.63 per pay period
  • Health Spending Account increases from $300 to $400, with lump sum payments of $100/year for 2023, 2024, and 2025 that the employer must pay within 90 days of ratification.
  • Increases to evening and night differentials and weekend premiums, with retro pay the employer must pay within 90 days of ratification.
    • Evening: from $2.50 (current) to $2.75 (starting January 11, 2023) to $3.00 (starting December 31, 2023).
    • Night: from $3.00 (current) to $3.30 (starting January 11, 2023) to $4.00 (starting December 31, 2023).
    • Weekend: from $2.00 (current) to $2.20 (starting January 11, 2023) to $3.00 (starting December 31, 2023).
