Northwestern Polytechnic: Employer tables disappointing wage offer
Bargaining update for Local 071 Chapter 007, Northwestern Polytechnic
Jun 17, 2025
Your negotiating team met the employer on June 5 to continue bargaining.
The employer tabled their monetary proposal, including wage adjustments. It is an extremely disappointing offer, and we know we deserve better. Your team will keep fighting for wage increases that keep up with skyrocketing cost of living.
The employer offered us 10% over four years – nowhere near enough. The offer includes:
- 2024 – 3%
- 2025 – 3%
- 2026 – 2%
- 2027 – 2%
Public sector workers across the province are demanding more, and we will do the same. Registered nurses won increases of approximately 20% over four years, Alberta teachers rejected an offer of 15% over four years, and our fellow AUPE members working for the Government recently held a very successful strike vote.
More at the table
We also addressed other outstanding proposals, including adding the ability to have alternates on the Occupational Health and Safety Committee. We are continuing to carve out proposals and dealing with them outside the larger package to keep moving forward.
Despite challenges, we left the meeting feeling hopeful and positive about the progress we made. We are dedicated to winning significant improvements, including raises, and better working conditions. Our next dates are scheduled for October 9-10.
Please reach out to a member of your negotiating team with any questions or concerns.
