Medicine Hat College: Negotiations for wages and benefits begin
Bargaining Update for Local 071 Chapter 005, Medicine Hat College
Dec 09, 2025
Your negotiating team met the employer on December 4 and 5 to continue bargaining. The tone at the table is still positive.
We have completed all non-monetary negotiations and have moved on to wages and benefits. We exchanged full proposals with the employer.
The employer proposed a four-year term for the new agreement with a 3% wage increase each year. We are beginning to see the influence of the government on the employer's monetary mandate.
We are focused on our proposed wage improvements to address market pressures, recruitment and retention, and equity across classifications. We know we deserve wages that keep up with the rising cost of living and fairly compensate us for our work. The employer has taken away our proposal for costing and review.
Bargaining will continue on January 15.
Please reach out to a member of your negotiating team with any questions or concerns.
