EMCON: Bargaining goes badly – Join our town hall Dec. 8 & 9
Bargaining update for Local 118, Chapters 024, 025, 027 - Emcon
Dec 12, 2025
Your team met with the employer for mediation on December 8 and 9. Your team worked hard, but our employer keeps putting up barriers to progress. For example, they say they would only make a deal if the union drops all the policy grievances we filed.
It’s time to talk about what to do next, including the possibility of going on strike.
Attend our Zoom town hall to join the discussion and have your say.

Notes from mediation
EMCON’s monetary offer is not good enough, and they don’t seem interested in changing it.
Your team tried to negotiate. We tried to work with the employer and come up with proposals where we could meet in the middle, but EMCON would not budge.
We demanded full retro pay dating back to November 1, 2024, something that is very normal in new agreements. When EMCON finally agreed to consider full retro pay, they took a whole percentage point off of their proposal for raises. The employer really, really does not want to pay you the wages we deserve.
More mediation meetings are tentatively set for January 8 and 9. Your team will work on our next steps after we hear from you at our town hall.
Please contact a member of your team if you have questions.
