Your negotiating team met with the employer on July 30 to continue bargaining.
We signed off on a few non-monetary items:
- Article 8 – Employer-Union Relations: We clarified the language to specify that employees be paid at the “applicable rate of pay” rather than “basic rate of pay.”
- Article 13 – Grievance Procedure: No changes.
- Article 30 – Layoff and Recall: We added language for displacement. This would allow a laid-off employee to displace a less-senior employee in a different classification.
We still have a ways to go to get the collective agreement we know we deserve. Chartwell has not yet changed their initial proposal, but your team is determined.
