Benevolence Care Centre: Bargaining off to a productive start

Your negotiating team met with Benevolence Care Centre on July 3 and 4 to begin bargaining. We had positive discussions and made good progress.

We exchanged proposals on July 3 and began discussions with our non-wage proposals. We will begin bargaining for wages once we have completed non-wage bargaining. 

We agreed to not change or make minor changes to 17 Articles. We also had productive discussions on the following Articles:

•    Article 9 – Union Representation
•    Article 12 – Discipline and Dismissal
•    Article 14 – Hours of Work
•    Article 15 – Overtime
•    Article 25 – Leaves of Absence 
•    Article 32 – Bulletin Board Space 

We had significant discussions on new Articles related to Workload and Contracting Out.

We expect the employer to present their written counterproposals when we meet again on August 25 and 26.
