AHS NC: Members deliver a powerful 98% strike mandate

Your negotiating team is ready to announce the unofficial results of our strike vote.

AHS Nursing Care members voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action. 98% of participating members voted ‘Yes’ to strike. Congratulations!

Here is how members voted by the numbers:

• 15,647 Total eligible voters
• 11,031 Total votes
• 10,812 Total YES votes
• 219 Total NO votes
• 98% Overall YES votes

The vote breakdown by employer is as follows:

• AHS: 98% Yes
• Assisted Living Alberta: 97% Yes
• Primary Care Alberta: 96% Yes
• Recovery Alberta: 95% Yes
• Allan Gray Continuing Care: 100% Yes

These results are unofficial and have yet to be certified by the Alberta Labour Relations Board. Furthermore, the earliest we could serve strike notice is November 17 as per the Board’s recent ruling.

Your negotiating team sincerely thanks you for your passion and participation. You have delivered a decisive, strong strike mandate.

Our working hours are long, our schedules are impossible, and our scope of practice has grown exponentially without the raises to match. We have the power to change this. AHS Nursing Care members have shown that we are prepared to fight for the wages and working conditions we deserve.
