The AHS Nursing Care Essential Services Agreement is complete, we have filed for mediation

The Essential Services Agreement for AUPE members working at AHS in Nursing Care is complete. AUPE and AHS have signed the agreement, which has now been approved by the ESA Commissioner.

Your team has filed for formal mediation. We will share a bargaining update with you when we have a mediator and dates to begin formal mediation.

Regardless of mediation, your team wants to get back to the bargaining table. We told AHS that we still want to meet for bargaining on September 17 and 25, whether or not a mediator is available.

Please create a MyAUPE account on aupe.org if you do not have one already. In addition to viewing your ESA, your account also ensures you can:

• Vote on future contracts;
• Participate in strike votes;
• Receive strike pay;
• Find your worksite schedule while on strike.

The Alberta Labour Relations Code requires an ESA to be in place for a legal strike in the Healthcare Sector.

The agreement does not choose which specific employees work and which can strike. Instead, the ESA says which positions must be filled each day.

You may be asked to work a shift as a Designated Essential Services Worker one day. The next day, you may be free to walk the picket line with the majority of your coworkers.
