NAIT: More non-wage articles signed off

Your negotiating team met with NAIT on August 18 and 19 to continue bargaining.

Our discussions remained respectful, and we signed off on three non-wage related articles and two new letters of understanding (LOU). We are getting closer to bargaining for wages and benefits as we have now signed off on nearly all our non-wage related articles.

The following articles and LOUs were signed off:

• Article 23 - Position Abolishment: notification time increased to 12 weeks for workers with two years or more service. Advance notice to union increased to 14 days—gives extra time to explore alternatives for members.
• Article 32 - Bereavement Leave: one day added for a total of five days of leave
• Article 49 - Grant or Externally Funded Temporary Employees: notice increased to a maximum of eight weeks; two weeks in the event funding ends unexpectedly.
• NEW Article - Peace Officers, Security Communications Officers and Building Patrol Officers: incorporates four LOUs into a single Article
• NEW LOU - Workload: establishes process to review and resolve workload issues
• Renew LOU - Women in Trades
