Extendicare: Moving forward on new master collective agreement

Your negotiating team is making headway in bargaining. Our goal is to take the best parts of each collective agreement to create our new master agreement.

Extendicare has been respectful and reasonable so far, which is moving things along. The employer agreed to include the most favourable article from each collective agreement to make sure the new master agreement benefits all members equally.

Most non-monetary items, with only a couple exceptions, have been signed off or agreed upon since our last meetings on April 15 and 16.

We have signed off on the following Letters of Understanding:
LOU for LPN Professional Development 
LOU for Job Security and Contracting Out
LOU for Negotiations at a Common Table with improvement to the language
LOU for Employees Holding More than One Position
LOU for Household Support Clerk (Michener)
LOU for Christmas Vacation (Eaux Claire)

We have verbal agreement and are waiting for the Employer to sign off:
LOU Union Leave for Negotiations at a Common Table
LOU for Parking (Michener)

We have also signed off:
Addition of Workload Appeal Form
Addition of Legal Indemnification for All Sites
Renewal of Article 30 Resignation 

Next steps

Your negotiating team and the employer have agreed to discuss setting dates for monetary proposals once there have been updates on bargaining between Alberta Health Services and our fellow AUPE members.
